This is the most popular sized firesteel as it fits sheaths with Army sized firesteel loops.

High quality bulk firesteel ideal for projects or outfitting students and scout groups.

I consider this type of firesteel slighlty "softer" than the harder mixtures used in the Light My Fire or Ultimate Survival Brands. This means you have to run your scraper slightly faster, but this firesteel puts out larger hot shards of metal. With a quality hardened scraper i.e. squared up spine of a knife or carbon hacksaw blade these firesteels are excellent!

Quick Project instructions for outfitting groups.

6" of paracord gutted so it will lie flat on the firesteel, put one end of paracord on either side of the firesteel covering about a 1/2" of firesteel, wrap with electical tape or medical tape to create a handle with a paracord lanyard.

Break off a 2"-3" piece of a cheap carbon hacksaw blade, create a lanyard as above on the hacksaw blade.

Either file the teeth down on the hacksaw blade or square the spine up with a diamond file.

This is a easy project for kids and will throw awesome sparks!!
