Needed an alternative way of fire starting in an emergency. I like the option of having at least three methods of getting a fire started. If you have prepped for an emergency and have pre-made tinder material, starting a fire is usually fairly easy. But if you will be using tinder you find in the outdoors, your method of lighting the tinder will likely depend on the type of tinder collected. Plan to distribute some of these to friends who are preppers also. Can also serve as an alternative to broken glasses!

Fresnal Lens Magnifier 5 Pack, Great value and they work..
Posted by Bob on 7th Oct 2018
Most magnifying glasses and Fresnels have magnifications of 3x or less. These are 5x.
It takes about 5x to start a fire unless you're in direct sunlight in the tropics. I found this out the hard way in the Scouts. So, almost all others are worthless for the task. These are excellent.

Good quality and fair price. My eyes need help now, so I stash these everywhere as a backup to reading glasses. Fire starting is nice bonus.

I've not tried to start a fire, when the sun comes out again I will but the weather isn't helping. But it does a great job reading the mice-type people use to fit mandatory warnings and directions in the smallest area possible.

This small but potent Fresnel lens is of fine quality, and of course, compact size. It is a great addition to all BOGs and survival kits. Added benefit...it is a great magnifier when you need a close look at almost anything!

High magnification, small, lightweight, inexpensive. Nothing bad to say about these
