Hults Bruk Aneby Hunting Axe
A slightly more powerful axe with a rounded neck, hand-forged and made from Swedish axe steel using traditional methods in use since 1697. The steel is stuck several times, increasing its density and thereby the durability of the axe. Ideal for hunters who both skin animals and carry out light forest work.
1.87lb head
20" Hickory Handle
High Quality Leather Sheath
Rounded Poll for skinning, but flat enough to pound stakes as well.
I Really like this size with the slightly heavier head over the other 19" axes.
Razor Sharp
Made in Sweden

Absolute Perfection - I can't find a single flaw with this axe. Razor sharp out of the box, excellent grain orientation, and a perfect grind!!!!! Super fast delivery also. I am more than pleased with this purchase.

Hults Bruk makes a superior axe; every bit the equal or better than Granfors Bruk axes.

The axe head was quality, very sharp & set straight with handle. The handle was not sanded smooth & had machine chatter marks. The grain orientation was about 50 degrees from vertical. Oiled very lightly. Not the quality I was expecting for the price or advertised buy the maker. I sanded the handle & re-applied several coats of linseed oil. Now I have an axe that is what it should have been out of the box.

This review is based on a visual inspection. The axe head meets the quality expectations of the Hults Bruk Premium line of axes. The following statement from the Hults Bruk web page is valid: "These are hardworking pieces of art, unrivaled by even the best-known brands. Meticulously hand finished to increase durability and illuminate the beauty of the natural materials. First several stages of hand grinding are performed to produce a shaving-sharp edge."
The handle fit and finish, however, is average and failed to meet the advertised standards of the Premium line. Hults Bruk states ". . . the American hickory handles are hand sanded and oiled with several coats of linseed to condition and protect the wood." The actual handle has a very course finish, tool marks on the knob, wood fragments all around the axe lug to handle union, and a very light coat of linseed oil. Overall, the handle meets the standards and expectations of the Hults Bruk Standard product line of axes, but the quality marketed under the Premium line is unsupported by the evidence. The buyer must be prepared to accept the handle as is or do some finish work.
