Product Description

Lagom Bush Knife G10 Orange Micarta

O1 Tool Steel

Full Tang

Scandi Grind to Zero

JRE Leather Sheath with Firesteel loop and removable dangler for multiple carry options

This knife is a collaboration between Ben Piersma from Ben's Backwoods, Jason Gustafson from Lester River Bushcraft and L.T. Wright Knives.

Lagom is a Swedish term used for "Just Right"

Not too big, not too small, not to heavy, not too light.

Jason and I have drawn from our extensive training with our mentor Mors Kochanski and the Scandinavian style knives we feel make the most useful wilderness living tools.

Design Features:

The Handle:

Large oval handle which tapers from front to back and is swelled in the middle to fill your hand. #1 priority of a bush knife is carving and cutting. This handle fills your hand in comfort for all day work with no hot spots or cramping. This is very important if you need to peel a dozen sticks for a set of Roycroft snowshoes!

This handle will feel best with average to large hands and is comfortable in many working positions including a reverse grip using it as a one handed draw knife.

The Blade:

O1 Tool steel, this carbon steel holds a excellent edge and is easy to sharpen and maintain.

Full Tang 1" wide blade 1/8" thick, 3 1/2" long, a palm width.

These dimensions are chosen as a good combination of strength with a blade thin enough not to loose cutting and carving ability.

Scandi grind blade, as the main purpose of a bush knife is peeling sticks and carving.

Full continuous curve on the cutting edge makes sharpening easier and ensures you are cutting wood fibers, meat, etc. on a angle which is always more efficient.

The full curve also gives this knife a narrow tip which handles like alot smaller knife for fine wood carving detail.

The spine on the knife is ground square to be used as a scraper on wood or to run your firesteel.

The Sheath:

We sized the sheath to take about 2/3 of the handle as is the scandinavian style for a secure sheath, you may want to add a cord lanyard on the end of the knife.

Firesteel loop for the 3/8" Army size firesteel.

Belt dangler attachment which is nice for sitting down and hanging a bit lower when wearing cold weather layers. You can remove the dangler and run the sheath on your belt or add a neck cord.

  1. Perfect Design... 5 Star Review

Posted by on 17th Sep 2019

I originally bought this knife to use as a neck knife for food prep and light carving around camp; and to supplement my Woodlore bushcraft knife which I tend to use for heavier tasks - wood processing. However, after using the Lagom, I may retire the Woodlore. Ergonomically, the Lagom grip and blade size/shape are perfect. Holding the knife just feels awesome. Moreover, common bushcraft tasks are a breeze with the Lagom. I will not use it to baton wood; even though I am sure it is up to the task. In this case, I have my Gransfors Bruk. In short, the knife design is perfect. Good Job Ben, Jason and LT. The Swedes would be proud. BTW, the sheath is very well made.

  2. Great all around Knife 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Jan 2018

Just arrived today. Haven’t had it outdoors yet. This a heavy duty short knife but not a light knife. I have another LT Wright knife and he makes very high quality knives. This follows the Mors Kochanski theory of best usable knife size, which is smaller than the general trend these days where guys want more show off stuff. I got the orange g10 scales and the grip on this knife is fabulous. I have stubby fingers and it fits perfectly. 01 Steel might not have been my first choice (my other lt is a2) but this is perfectly acceptable. 01 did keep the price down and makes this knife an excellent value. Good sheath.
The only thing this knife might not be quite as good as some others is slicing. I don’t care.A stainless mora or an SAK is perfect for that anyway.
This knife is also not a hatchet or machete in disguise. What it might give up in those areas it more than makes up for in superior utility for all legitimate knife activities. Ben sells some nice hatchets. I was impressed with Bens’s store and website. The prices are fair, he doesn’t make you wade through a lot of crap. I’ll be going back there.
Summary: this a great knife that is all anybody would need in the knife department. Excellentl value. Only available from Ben and some other guy.
I wish I had bought this sooner and skipped some of the frogs I kissed before.

  3. Lagom G10 Orange 5 Star Review

Excellent design for Bush skills. Feels great in the hand with no pointy edges or bevels that cause Hotspot. Blade maneuvers like a thin carving blade, yet, is a thick enough stock to do camp shores such as wood processing without worrying about breaking the blade. Highly recommended.

  4. Just right 5 Star Review

I am very pleased with this knife and though expensive, it is a quality American tool made to last a lifetime. The sheath was very tight, aggravating tight, but wet forming it solved that problem. It is a little on the heavy side if compared to the Mora HD, but it's not uncomfortable for me to wear on a neck cord. It holds its edge very well, it would almost still shave after making a burtonsville rig and carving a large spoon, that was on the factory edge. The grip is the best I've ever felt , I have large hands( xl glove size) . I have sharpened it once and though harder than the mora steel, it sharpens very well on oil stones and seems to hold it a lot better too, a very well thought out knife.

  5. Great knife 4 Star Review

I really like the knife. The orange handle helps with visibility if you by chance lay it on the ground. Very sharp out of the box. The sheath is well made, but should be a hair wider, and a bit deeper for security of the knife. The handle of the knife is very comfortable, and fills the hand. Once ordered, the delivery was quick.
