Mora, first rate
As usual, this Mora is an extremely good buy. Very well done, very sharp. You simply cannot go wrong with one of these.

Not what I expected!
Having recently received the Mora Companion HD, I was really surprised with what Mora had done with the Companion. I was basically expecting a companion carbon with the thicker blade. Why redesign the knife when you already have a winner, right? Well, that is exactly what Mora did, they redesigned the knife entirely. Obviously the Blade is substantially more thick, a full 1/8th inches thick, but they didn't stop there with the knife. The handle is 3/4 inches longer and a little fatter as well, lending the knife more leverage when needed and thus more control. I don't batton wood with my knives, these are knives and NOT axes after all, but I imagine if needed, the HD could do it's fair share. The sheath is up to par with standard Mora sheaths, above average, but nothing special. The knife will hold it's own in the woods doing the basic tasks. The HD works well as a food prep knife, feather sticks are a breeze as is notching etc. I made a Mors Kochanski try stick with the HD and found it to be a very effective knife with little to no fatigue when I was done. Any fatigue was due mainly to being out of shape, not the knife LOL. I am very happy with the Companion HD and I am going to say this knife is worth twice the price as is charged. A real bargain at $18.00!

very good knife for the money
This was my second knife from Mora; the first was the black Bushcraft with carbon steel blade which was also a good knife. I like the way this knife feels in the hand a little better. The Robust balances in the hand very well and cuts like a straight razor. This is a great wood craft and general duty knife. I like it. My only gripe is the lack of full tang in all of the Mora line. The Robust has a rattail tang that runs 3/4 the length of the handle which is better then the too-short-tangs some Moras have. This seems to be common with most Scandinavian knives this size, so I guess it's tradition. But this is the "Robust" Mora, so I would really appreciate a full tang. On second thought, maybe I'm to critical. Most Scandinavian knives have a rattail or shortened tang and this does make for a lighter feeling knife. Lighter feeling in the hand means less hand fatigue. Just remember to treat these knives like a folder: don't try to split logs with it. I like this knife, and in fact, I've purchased another Mora Robust as a spare. I'm planning to pair this knife with a Wetterlings mid-sized axe when I hit the trail. I've found this combo to be far more useful then just bringing a survival-type wonder knife.

Fantastic Upgrade to a Great Knife!!!
I've used Mora knives for years and can't say enough good things about them. The thicker blade and larger, more comfortable handle on this robust edition are fantastic advancements in an already near perfect no-nonsense blade. The other new thing I noticed with this knife is it comes with apolished carbon steel blade. This is way more appealing to the eye in comparison to the old, rough looking carbon blades that almost looked "used" when you bought one. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 for only one reason...the spine needs a good sharp edge for fire steel scraping. The spine is polished and rounded, not making it real great for firemaking. Other than that, this knife is rough, tough, comfortable, and will be on my side at all times when I'm out in the sticks.

mora is good
Mora knife is a very good knife for heavy duty stuff, it is literally indestructible. but keep in mind that if you need knife for slight works, like slicing apple or filleting a fish at the camp, get another knife for that.

Comfortable in big hands
this is the most comfortable knife for my large hands I own. It has a good solid feel, cuts well and is light. It has become my everyday knife and is holding up well. To my suprise I also like the plastic sheath for also.

Favorite Mora so far
Excellent grip shape for large-ish hands. Much better than Mora 546 or Fallkniven F1. It also has the most confidence inspiring heft of any Mora I've held. Scandi grind is also makes it much easier to be precise, with almost no learning curve compared to a convex grind. Makes me wish I had bought 5 of these instead of my Fallkniven F1. For Canadians Shipping to Canada was not possible with my order online. I work 10 minutes from the border,so I had these shipped to a mail service in WA. I already have 2 more on order, including the hi-viz version.
