This Mod shortens the blade by about 1/4"

This also lowers the blade point by about 1/4"

This gives the tip closer to a spear point and improves control while carving etc.

I've owned several from the Opinel line. Two #8's, a #12 and now a #9. All carbon steel. The latter two purchased from Ben's. Always great service with the best price. The #9 was flawless. Just needed a touch up on the edge with a ceramic rod. Optimal blade and handle size for EDC, hiking and camping. Super lite. It is a folder with a very safe & sure locking design that's easy to customize. I also like not having to deal with a sheath. When the "new" wears off, it won't take much to re-profile and strop. Then it will be razor sharp and cut every bit as good as my Moras.

I've pondered buying one of these for awhile. I wish I had tried them earlier. They are great pocket folders. The barrel lock is unique and works great. They are not razor sharp out of the box but take an edge very easily and are value priced enough to stock up on. I haven't had it long enough for 5 stars but don't foresee any issues , just trying to be fair.
