I have used this for years to maintain Axe handles. I normally oil my handles with boiled linseed oil and then rub a coat of Sno Seal on the handle with extra on the eye of the Axe to waterproof the wood.
The original beeswax waterproofing protects from rain, sun, snow and salt. Waterproofs, preserves and restores leather. Allows leather to breathe. Will not damage glue seams, stitching or welts.

Best protection for leather sheaths
Most of My axes have Kydex sheaths that I have made for them, but some of my axes came with leather sheaths. For decades, I normally fill the seam at the axe edge with sno seal, and then pack a heavy coat of sno seal on the unpainted portions of my axe. This has allowed me to keep my edges rust free in all kinds of weather without any concern to damaging either the leather or the stitching.
