This compass is very light and has some very good features included, like the ref. lines inside the compass to line up on the map.

quality you'd expect...
A no nonsense base plate compass of the quality you'd expect from Suunto. It is well designed and does all of what it is intended to do. While it lacks a lot of the bells and whistles of its lensatic brethren, it's not supposed to have them. I own several Suuntos of varying complexity and this one has found its place in the line up. I keep it in my hunting/dirt time pack. It's very functional for me in the low country of South Carolina, as there's really not much opportunity to gain elevation and shoot an azimuth so all those features are wasted space/weight. One side note: you c an use the magnifying lens for an auxiliary fire ignition device.
