Bush Roots Blades

These are our in house designed and produced knives by Ben Piersma.

These are small batch hand finished tools designed for Bushcraft and Survival use.

Mini Spike Traditional Line:

This is a Nordic inspired bush knife that fits a wide range of hands.This shortened Norse Spike is extremely handy as a EDC blade that can replace a pocket folder but is also large enough to handle most Bushcraft needs.The handle is just over 3/4" thick in the center, tapering smaller in front and rear for the traditional barrel shape.Also tapering slightly thinner toward the finger side of the lower handle.The handle starts at 1" wide right behind the blade and widens to 1 1/4" in the rear to fill the back of the hand. This is a very comfortable handle and would be recommended over our EDC Flat sided knives for larger carving and woodworking projects.

1/8" 80crv2 Carbon Steel hardened to 58-59 RC

Scandinavian grind with no secondary bevel.This is the best grind for peeling bark and carving and the user can easily add a secondary bevel during sharpening if needed.

80CrV2 has been around for many years under the common nickname “Swedish saw steel.”

80CrV2 steel is a high-carbon tool steel that contains chromium as well as vanadium in quantities high enough to affect the strength and hardness of the crystalline matrix of the steel. Vanadium is an element that is added to steel alloys that are typically used to produce excellent edge retention. Vanadium is prized in knife-making because it produces very durable carbides at the molecular level of the cutting edge. Tool steel, heavy equipment, and even nuclear reactors use vanadium in their construction.
